And then there were five. Following Melody Hossaini’s firing last week we are down to the final five in The Apprentice with the prize tantalisingly close now.

Fast-food chains are big business in today’s society, which explains why Lord Sugar sets the two teams the task of inventing their own outlet.

Not only that but the teams but develop a unique cuisine, open the store to the public, as well as pitching the concept to Lord Sugar and various experts from the fast-food industry.

With both teams given a brand new site in the West End they split themselves in to two to devise the best plan of action. One team opts for Mexican, and the other traditional British pie and mash.

The trial run doesn’t exactly go to plan for either team, leaving them grateful that Lord Sugar wasn’t yet present. The team with the Mexican outlet struggles to serve their food hot, whilst the pie and mash is served in flimsy cardboard boxes, another bad idea.

With the time to pitch to the industry experts upon them the teams receive marks out of ten in four key areas; customer service, the meal, branding, and would the idea work on the high street.

With the winning team heading straight to the final there is a tense wait for the results to be announced, and the knives are out as those in the firing line go to any length to save their own bacon.

It is all in vain for one unlucky candidate as Lord Sugar delivers the tried and tested ‘You’re Fired!’

Marks are revealed in the boardroom. The winners go straight to the final. The losers face the firing line, and their concept gets shredded. In the end, Lord Sugar places his order: “You’re fired!”.
