Finding it hard to place stories with the media? Then try this
Many PR professionals are complaining that it is getting harder to place stories with the media, journalists are either too busy or simply get too many pitches. But there is a way of turning that to your advantage, which I’ll address shortly.
With the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) forecasting economic growth of 1.2 per cent for 2013, the UK is hardly out of the woods just yet. However, the forecast does indicate a more positive outlook than we have seen for many quarters. Many businesses that reined in spending over the past few years are starting to think about investing again.

Someone recently asked me ‘what makes an award-winning company?’ I gave them the rather trite answer ‘they win awards.’
There is a searing truth in my response as over the years, while I’ve met some good businesses which have won awards, and I’ve met heaps more who haven’t, and the defining factor was the former bothered to enter.
We are so deluged with information across multiple channels – blogs, social media, news media, websites, google alerts – that catching someone’s attention appears increasingly tricky. That’s why the way you present information has never been more important.
