The Shift 100 has been put together to identify retail technology entrepreneurs who are bringing new ideas and products to market, creating integrated customer experiences and leading the move away from traditional

These entrepreneurs have been selected because they are dynamic, agile and shifting gears. They have brought an innovative product to market, cleverly harnessed a technology or process, led the revolutionary execution of a new technology and disrupted their markets.

Their inclusion has been validated by a panel led by Fresh Business Thinking group editor, Michael Baxter.

Michael Baxter, editor at Fresh Business Thinking, said:

“Retail’s hand is being forced by the impact of current tech innovations and these entrepreneurs are the driving force behind industry gear shifts, giving consumers more power to shop on their own terms.

These digital disrupters are building cutting-edge solutions and creating better shopping experiences. Within the Shift 100, we’ve identified start-ups revving up and creating strong proof of concepts through to retail technology entrepreneurs operating at full throttle, scaling solutions across multiple enterprises.”

Bivek Sharma, head of KPMG Small Business Accounting, said:

“We’re super excited to be associated with the Shift 100, as our service is built around supporting innovative and ambitious small businesses as they scale up. There’s some fantastic firms listed, and it shows the sheer breadth and depth of the UK retail tech start-up sector.”

The founders created Unmade as a response to their frustration at the fashion industry’s stagnant approach to mass-consumption.

Unmade controls existing industrial knitting machines to make thousands of really unique items of knitwear for the same price as making thousands of pieces that are all the same. Colours can be adapted and patterns rearranged by merely dragging a finger across the tablet screens (or cursor on a desktop). Carwow lets you choose a car and find up to 5 of the best offers from local and national dealers. You can compare offers by price, location, and dealer ratings and reviews dealing directly with the dealer.
