The Great British Entrepreneur Awards has announced that serial entrepreneur Jenny Campbell has joined the judging panel for 2019.

The former CEO of YourCash Europe and one of the five Dragons on BBC’s Dragons’ Den for the past two series, Jenny is someone who has a long history with the Awards dating back to the first ever final. In 2013, Jenny was awarded silver in the ‘Turnaround Entrepreneur of the Year’ category after turning a failing ATM provider into a flourishing business with a turnover of £28 million.

Jenny sold the business in 2016 for £50 million before joining Dragons’ Den in 2017. This saw her relationship with the Great British Entrepreneur Awards renewed in unexpected fashion when Ed Hollands stepped out of the famous lift and into the Den. Ed, who is twice a GBEA finalist in the Midlands region, secured a £30,000 investment from the new Dragon in his business Driven Media, which utilises the space on the side of lorries for advertising.

Then, in 2018, Jenny returned to the gala final in London as a special guest, giving the audience some ideas and insight into her journey.

As a judge, Jenny is uniquely placed as someone who knows what it’s like to not only enter the Great British Entrepreneur Awards but also the investment potential of some of the finalists on the shortlist.

Joining the judging panel, Jenny said: “I’m a huge fan of championing entrepreneurs because they bring innovation, job creation, new lifestyles and financial stimulus to our economy.”

Looking back on her time at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards in 2013, Jenny said: “I was thrilled for both myself and my team as we had worked so hard to turn around an ailing and troubled business, and therefore felt that this award recognised all that hard work as well as gave us the impetus to continue our efforts to make it an even greater business, which we did.”

Francesca James, founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Jenny to the judging panel. With tenacity in spades, she is a special kind of entrepreneur; someone with the vision to look beyond the problems, see the potential, and go for it.”
