According to a report by recruitment firm TotalJobs, almost two-thirds of trans people believe it is necessary to keep their identity secret from colleagues to feel safe and secure in their jobs. Five years ago, just over half of trans people felt this way.

Even more staggering, 43% of trans employees specifically said they’ve left a job because the environment was unwelcoming – up from 36% in 2016. This is despite the legal protection from discrimination that trans people have under the Equality Act 2010.

So, what can we do in order to create an inclusive and supportive workforce when it comes to supporting trans and non-binary employees? This session will look at how to put clear policies in place, create a safe and supportive culture and how to provide opportunities.
