The UK's unemployment rate fell below 4% for the first time in over 40 years between November and January.
The ONS said unemployment fell 35,000 to 1.34 million, taking the share of percentage of the population to 3.9% for the first time since 1975. Compared with the same period a year earlier, the number dropped 112,000.
Meanwhile, the number of people in employment hit 32.7 million - the highest it has been since 1971.
ONS senior statistician Matt Hughes said: "The employment rate has reached a new record high, while the proportion of people who are neither working nor looking for a job - the so-called 'economic inactivity rate'- is at a new record low."
