Data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has shown a disappointing 10.1% drop in the UK construction sector for the year to July.
According to the ONS, taking the three months of May to July, output was also down by 10% on the same three months a year ago.
The ONS were quick to highlight that the reason May's activity was higher than usual was down to the fact that a bank holiday had been moved to June.
In June there were two extra days' holiday for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee leaving output unusually depressed.
