Twitter still "sucks" at protecting its users from abuse, according to its CEO Dick Costolo.
In a memo to staff, leaked to the Verge, Mr Costolo said: “We lose core user after core user by not addressing simple trolling issues that they face every day.
“I'm frankly ashamed of how poorly we've dealt with this issue during my tenure as CEO. It's absurd.”
The Twitter boss said it will “start kicking these people off right and left and making sure that when they issue their ridiculous attacks, nobody hears them”.
Online abuse, or "trolling" has become a big issue for Twitter. It's a problem suffered by most type of people - several athletes and celebrities have spoken about the type and extent of abuse they receive on Twitter, and it's a problem that the non-famous suffer from as well.
