European bankers and investors are booking out entire cinemas to get a sneak peek of Martin Scorsese's latest blockbuster, The Wolf of Wall Street.
The film portrays the dark side of the lavish lifestyle of stockbrokers. It is based on the memoirs of disgraced US stockbroker Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.
Belfort lived a life of extravagance spending the fortune he earned on yachts, cars, drugs, alcohol, orgies and houses. But his fortune wasn't earned honestly. Belfort defrauded his clients and was eventually caught and jailed.
And European bankers are eager to see it.
The Italian stock exchange will screen the film on-site. Nordea, the Nordic region's largest bank, has secured every single seat in a Stockholm cinema and cordoned off a VIP area for its clients. The screening has been timed for after the closure of the stock market so as many people as possible can make it.
Nordea's had to purchase extra tickets and put people on a waiting list because the event was so popular. Invitations were printed with Belfort's own quote: "I partied like a rock star, lived like a King"
Tickets for Swedish bank, Swedbank's private showing (coincidentally organised by its Chief Executive, Michael Wolf) were booked within five minutes.
In an interview with the BBC, Leonardio DiCaprio described Belfort's life as "hedonistic" and said: ""This is an accurate reflection of their lives. This is who these people were."
