Sugar firm Tate & Lyle has issued its third profit warning in a year, after weak sales of its sweetener product.

Tate & Lyle said its annual profits for Splenda, the sugar substitute, would be "modestly low".

It said competition from cheaper Chinese competitors and cheaper sugar prices in Europe had impacted on sales.

Shares were down by nearly 13% in early trading.
