St. James's Place plc (LSE: STJ) is a UK-based wealth management business.
It is headquartered in Cirencester and has 20 regional offices throughout the UK.
It was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1997 and is now a FTSE 250 company.
The business was founded by Mike Wilson, Sir Mark Weinberg and Lord Rothschild in 1991 as J Rothschild Assurance Group.
It subsequently changed its name to St.James's Place Capital plc. In 2000, HBOS plc became a 60% shareholder of St. James’s Place Capital.
With effect from 9 May 2006, St. James's Place Capital was renamed St. James's Place plc.
Lloyds TSB, now Lloyds Banking Group plc, acquired HBOS Banking Group in 2009, and now owns a 60% shareholding in St. James's Place plc.
