Following widespread speculation it has been confirmed that Royal Mail workers will go on strike.
The 24-hour strike will take place on November 4th, according to the postal union.
The vote, which the Communication Workers Union (CWU) said was four to one in favour, would be the first national strike at Royal Mail in almost four years.
The CWU's deputy general secretary, Dave Ward, said: "Postal workers have spoken very clearly that they care about their jobs, terms and conditions far more than they care about shares.
"The stakes have become much higher for postal workers since privatisation, making this ballot more important than ever. Postal workers will not be the people who pay for the profits of private operators and faceless shareholders."
