Poundworld's "everything £1" claim has been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) after customers found items on sale for £3 and £8.99.
The ASA described the claim as "misleading" and said Poundworld cannot use it again until it can guarantee that everything in the store costs £1.
Poundworld defended its decision to sell the items, arguing that they "manager specials" which are only run a few times a year.
Poundworld's trading director, Chris Edwards Junior, said: "Occasionally we see a one-off product that is incredible value costing over the single price point that we believe our customers would like to see on sale. These exclusive deals are incredibly popular.”
