Pfizer launches Pfizer Healthcare Hub: London to support UK’s growing healthtech sector

Pfizer Ltd has announced the launch of the Pfizer Healthcare Hub: London, a new initiative to help established start-up companies innovating at the cross-section between health and technology to grow.

As technology - devices, apps, wearables, Artificial Reality and Virtual Reality - plays an increasing role in delivering and improving healthcare Pfizer is seeking to support and accelerate innovation in this area to transform patients’ lives.

By providing access to Pfizer’s network and resources, the hub aims to help late-stage start-ups to reach more patients and providers, like the NHS, faster.

Pfizer is seeking to support start-ups who have developed a product or service ready for use by healthcare professionals which can show evidence of benefits to patients or clinicians.

Original thinking

Start-ups will compete for a share of a grant of £56k and a year-long programme of support, helping them to navigate the UK’s health system, and giving them the opportunity to meet the people who can move their ideas and their businesses forward.

UK-registered companies and charities looking for support are invited to enter the process for a chance to become part of the inaugural programme by visiting:

“I’m delighted that we’ll be launching the Pfizer Healthcare Hub here in the UK,” said Erik Nordkamp, Pfizer UK Managing Director.

“We live in a country that is already a centre for original thinking and innovation within healthcare and our goal is to accelerate the success of the brightest start-ups in this field and help them make a difference to patients,” he added.

Global network

The successful start-ups will benefit from access to Pfizer’s network of global partners, including the NHS, seeking to improve the experience and outcomes of patients.

The Pfizer Healthcare Hub: London is the latest in a global network of Pfizer innovation hubs, joining existing centres in New York, Berlin and Tel Aviv. New hubs are also being launched simultaneously in Stockholm, Sydney and Toronto.

Dr Hamish Graham, Pfizer Healthcare Hub: London Manager, said: “The Healthcare Hub will provide a platform for start-ups to harness Pfizer’s global network, enabling them to get access to our expertise, understanding and guidance. We hope, with our support, that they’ll be able to reach their goals and get their innovations adopted within the health service.”
