As the popularity of our famous nannies, fashion, music, Will & Kate, and a good cup of tea goes to show, Americans are often in need of a little British influence.

This Spring, British Airways is to take a no-nonsense approach to help nervous flyers on this side of the pond. In partnership with American Airlines, British Airways is introducing its first Flying with Confidence training seminar across the Atlantic.

This British Airways-sponsored training program allows fearful flyers to become comfortable in airplanes and with the concept of flying. The program has been running successfully in the United Kingdom for over 25 years with an astounding 98% satisfaction result. During the course, a senior British Airways Captain and other highly qualified personnel walk passengers through the flight process with a thorough presentation and a 45-minute flight in a jet airliner.

A trained psychologist is also on-board, teaching passengers to recognize, and successfully overcome, anxieties as they arise midflight. As British Airways and American Airlines are both founding members of the global "One World" airline partnership, American Airlines will be providing a Boeing 737-800 for the flight, ensuring passengers enjoy the most comfortable training flight possible.

The course will take place on April 27, 2013, at LaGuardia Airport, NYC where passengers can look forward to snacks, a light lunch, beverages, a short flight, and a packet of course materials to take with them — and at $499, it’s less than half the cost of other similar courses, making it widely affordable. Add that and Downton Abbey to the list of modern British gifts to America!

'Open to Export' is a UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) initiative in partnership with hibu plc (formerly Yell Group).
