Online retailers are advised to move quickly if they’re to capitalise on this year’s Christmas rush; that’s according to One iota, the expert in cloud based multi channel retail solutions, who say the technology is now available for online brands to open ‘pop-up’ shops on the high street during busy periods.

Recent research suggests that less than 10% of all UK retail sales are conducted via the web meaning big name online brands could miss out on 90% of the potential market this Christmas if they fail to establish a high street presence.

Online brands should be taking advantage of new multi-channel kiosks to open up temporary stores. By filling floor space with kiosks that give customers access to a retailer’s full ecommerce offering and offering short delivery times to either home or store, online retailers could operate a cost effective high street store with high profit returns.

Installing the smart kiosks could also drive greater profits for high street retailers by reducing queues and making full product ranges available at all times.

“Online retailers are now able to exploit the increase in high street footfall associated with the busy festive shopping period with temporary ‘pop-up’ stores," One iota CEO Damian Hanson commented.

"Christmas 2011 saw a 30% rise in online retail[i] on the previous year and many analysts are predicting there will be a bigger increase this year. However online retailers can ill afford to rest on their laurels in the current economic climate and new technology means they now have the opportunity to drive even bigger festive profits.”
