She may be just 16 months old, but North West, the daughter of celebrity power couple Kim Kardashian-West and Kanye West, or 'Kimye', to use their pop culture name, is already the reason behind a boost in retail sales.
When the baby girl was spotted wearing a pair of personalised trainers, online baby retailer My1stYears.com said they saw sales of a similar product more than double shortly after.
The retailer said parents were keen to dress their children like one of the most famous children in the world. The high-top trainers, which have the babies' names embroidered on the side.
Director of My1stYears.com Daniel Price said: “The pulling power of some of the celebrity babies and toddlers is incredible. If they’re spotted wearing an item, then parents naturally want to dress their children in similar items and buy into their lifestyle.
“The interest in our high top trainers after North West was spotted in a similar pair has taken us by surprise. We knew she was popular but didn’t realise quite how much mums and dads in this country were following her every move."
Of course, it isn't just North West that is boosting the early years market. My1stYears.com said that when Price George was photographed wearing a personalised jumper, it sold 1200 units of a similar jumper in just four days.
Daniel continued: “Having high profile tots like Prince George and North West really gives the baby sector and junior fashion retailers like us an enormous boost.
“The trend for personalised items has been growing for some time and is a trend I can only see getting bigger over the coming years.”
