The unusually warm September weather has slowed Next's sales and it could be forced to issue a profit warning if the weather continues.
The fashion chain said September's "unseasonably warm weather" resulted in sales growing by 6% in the third quarter, slower than the 10% predicted.
Next said its full-year profits could be affected if the weather continues into October. It is currently forecasting full-year profits of between £775m and £815m.
The high street chain said it will issue an interim statement at the end of October.
