Next has cut its profit forecast for the full year after an unusually warm start to Autumn hit sales.

The clothing retailer said profits are likely to be between £750m and £750m, which would still be growth of 8-14%, but below initial forecasts of £775m-£815m.

Sales in the three months to 25 October grew by 5.4%, below forecasts of 10%.

The country experienced the driest September since 1910, according to the Met Office, which impacted on sales of winter weather clothes.

Last month, Next suggested that sales would continue to be affected if the warm weather lingered into the rest of Autumn and Winter.
