Morrisons

Morrisons has agreed a deal with Amazon to sell food to the online retailer's customers.

The supermarket will supply fresh and frozen food, as well as other products, to Amazon's Prime and Pantry customers. Amazon Pantry launched last year, but does not offer fresh food.

The deal comes as a surprise, considering Morrisons has a 25-year agreement with Ocado for its online delivery service.

However, it is understood that chief executive David Potts is a staunch critic of the company's deal with Ocado, struck by his predecessor Dalton Phillips, because it does not serve Scotland and the north of England, where Morrisons considers to be its heartland.
