The Mondi Group plc (LSE: MNDI, JSE: MONDI) is a leading British-based paper and packaging manufacturer.
It is listed on the London Stock Exchange (85%) and the JSE (15%) and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.
The Company was first established in 1967 as a business unit of Anglo American plc to build and operate the Merebank Mill in Durban in South Africa.
Mondi came to Europe in the early 1990s acquiring 49% of the Austrian business Neusiedler AG in 1990 and 40% of the Austrian business Frantschach AG shortly thereafter.
In 1997 it went on to buy 60% of the Polish business Celuoza Świecie AG.
