The new electric Mini will be produced in the UK with the first cars being delivered in March 2020, BMW has announced.
There were concerns that production would be taken out of the UK after a board member of the German car manufacturer, which owns Mini, warned it could leave in the event of a no-deal Brexit.
Speaking to the BBC, David George, head of Mini UK, stressed that the UK was definitely part of the company's plans for the future.
He said: "It is too early to say what the impact of Brexit will be.
"But as a business, we have committed and invested heavily over recent years in our production facilities in the UK, so we remain committed to UK production.
"The team here at Plant Oxford are incredibly proud that it's been chosen to be the plant to launch the first all-electric Mini."
Production will start in November and the new electric car will have the same design as the existing petrol model.
Yesterday (Tuesday), the government announced plans to invest £40 million in improving the UK's electric car infrastructure, including charging points. It comes after sales of all-electric cars rose 61% in June.
