Taiwanese smartphone manufacturers, HTC Corp. have today announced their much speculated dual core device: the twin 1.2 Ghz HTC Sensation.

While both Motorola’s Atrix and LG’s Optimus 2x can boast the versatile dual core, the HTC is as yet the only dualcore device to exceed 1.0 Ghz.

HTC’s increasingly large and diverse lineup of devices has seen the company explode globally, increasing their brand awarenss from 13% to 50% in 18 months. They also increased, to 25 million, the company’s sales from half that figure in 2009.

The powerful device will be able to process high spec. games as well as multiple tab web browsing, and will operate Google’s Android operating system.

“Consumers have quickly transformed smartphones into consumer lifestyle hubs that are pocket-sized entertainment centers that enable people to take their favorite multimedia content with them wherever they go. The new HTC Watch service makes it fun and easy for people to access premium movies and TV shows while on the go,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation. “The HTC Sensation 4G combines this great multimedia experience within the latest HTC Sense experience in a premium device that delivers a powerful and unprecedented smartphone to our customers.”

Other features include a high res screen, 8-megapixel camera, and a polished version of their popular heads up display. The HTC Sensation 4G also shoots full HD video in 1080p resolution, with full stereo sound, at up to 30 frames a second, giving you smooth video that is better than many other phones. With the new Video Trimmer tool, people can crop their clips to the perfect size for easy sharing with friends and family.

Tech website T3 speculate the device will hit UK shelves in May.
