The first ever Entrepreneur Wales Awards takes place this evening at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, celebrating the stories and successes of Wales' brightest entrepreneurs.
The Entrepreneur Wales Awards, sponsored by Business Wales, Welsh Government, is the only awards to acknowledge the hard work and inspiring stories of Welsh entrepreneurs and businesses in Wales, not just the balance sheet.
Nearly 80 entrepreneurs have been shortlisted across 17 categories including 'Retail Entrepreneur of the Year', 'Entrepreneurs' Champion', 'Expat' and 'Social Enterprise'.
Launching the Entrepreneur Wales Awards earlier in the year, co-founder Francesca Russell, said: “Entrepreneurship is thriving in Wales and we need to start recognising the people who are driving our economy forward. The Entrepreneur Wales Awards are all about celebrating the hard work and inspiring stories of Welsh entrepreneurs and businesses in Wales.”
Alix Popham, former Wales rugby international and Entrepreneur Wales Awards co-founder, said: “Whether it’s an established big business like Admiral, two former Wales rugby stars harnessing the links between sport and business or an unknown start-up doing great things, there are plenty of reasons to be cheerful about entrepreneurship in Wales.
“We believe that there is so much more to a business than the balance sheet and that’s why we want to celebrate the incredible stories that Welsh entrepreneurs and their businesses have to tell.”
