Online retailer eBay has reported a rise in third quarter earnings growing net revenue by 15 percent.
John Donahoe, CEO, said: "We had a great third quarter across our company, with Marketplaces and PayPal accelerating customer growth,"
PayPal ended the quarter with 117.4 million active registered accounts, a 14% increase over the third quarter of 2011.
Founded in 1995 eBay expects to transact $10 billion in mobile volume in 2012, which doubles last year’s total. That figure is more than the annual GDP of 75 countries throughout the world .
eBay is, in fact, the world’s largest online marketplace with more than 105 million active users globally and more than 17 million unique visitors to eBay.co.uk every month.The eBay mobile app has been downloaded more than 100 million times and there have been more 100 listings via a mobile application.
eBay.co.uk is owned by eBay Inc, which has expanded to include a range of brands that help consumers find and purchase the goods they want. These brands include eBay, PayPal, Shopping.com, RedLaser, Milo and others.
