Easyjet boss Carolyn McCall has been made a Dame in the New Year Honours list.
Dame Carolyn received the gong for her services to the aviation industry, five years after taking the helm at the budget airline.
One of only six female chief executives on the FTSE 100, Ms McCall has led an impressive run of growth at Easyjet, which includes rising profits in each year since she became chief executive. With 65 million passengers and profits of £681 million announced in September, Easyjet is now one of the world's most profitable airlines and one of the biggest airlines in Europe.
The new Dame said: "It is a recognition of Easyjet putting customers first and making travel for them as easy and affordable as possible."
Fellow female business leader Jacqueline Gold, chief executive of Ann Summers and Knickerbox, received a CBE for services to entrepreneurship, women in business and social enterprise.
Director general of the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Helen Dickinson receives an OBE for work in the retail industry.
Elsewhere, Dyson founder James Dyson was awarded an Order of Merit for achievements in industrial design.
"I have been fortunate to have worked every day with the brightest and most creative of engineers and scientists," he said.
"This honour is as much a recognition of their efforts as of anything which I have managed to achieve."
Pets at Home founder Anthony Preston receives a CBE, and Yo! Sushi chief executive Robin Rowland receives an OBE.
