Dutch rail operator, Abellio, will take over the ScotRail franchise from First Group in April 2015.

Abellio, which is linked is to the Dutch national rail service, will run the Scottish government's biggest contract, worth £2.5bn, for ten years.

It beat competition from First Group, which has run the franchise since 2004, National Express, Arriva and Hong Kong operator MTR.

Abellio already runs three franchises in England; Merseyrail, Northern Rail and the Caledonian Sleeper from April.
