Dixons Carphone has announced that it will close 134 of it stores as part of plans to merge Currys and PC World.
It will combine Currys and PC World stores, and add a Carphone Warehouse outlet to each store, which it says is more likely to create jobs than cut them.
Dixons Carphone chief executive, Seb James, said: "We are very confident that the impact on sales and colleague numbers will be neutral or better."
The electronics retailer also reported a positive Christmas period. Like-for-like sales in the 10 weeks to 9 January rose 5%, including a record day of trading on Black Friday.
