Users of the anarchic imageboard website 4Chan have sucessfully brought Mastercard's website to its knees today in retaliation to their banning of payments towards the controversial Wikileaks site.
Other targets for the coordinated hacks carried out by the elusive Anon_Operation included the Swiss PostFinance bank that had frozen Wikileaks founder Assange's accounts for allegedly providing false information.
Assange's site has made him an unlikely hero; catapulting him straight to the top of Time Magazine's 'Man of the Year 2010' poll, with a rating over 10% higher than Turkish prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, currently ranked 2nd in the polls.
The 39 year old is currently awaiting extradition to Sweden over allegations of rape. Though he has been lambasted by US officials over what some have deemed the largest breach of confidentiality in the Nation's history, there have as yet been no extradition talks between the US and Sweden.
