Shares have ended the week on a high, closing nearly 5% up on Thursday.

The Shanghai Composite index closed 4.8% higher, but still ended 8% lower than it was at the start of the week.

China's secondary market, the Shenzhen Composite, closed 5.4% higher but ended the week 9.4% down.

The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong rose 0.6%.

Elsewhere in Asia, Japan's Nikkei 225 closed up 3%.

Earlier in the week, a huge fall in Chinese shares caused concern across global markets which resulted in billions being wiped off stocks.
