Greetings cards retailer Card Factory is considering a bid for its upmarket rival Paperchase, according to reports.

Paperchase was recently put up for sale by its private equity owners Primary Capital, which has owned the retailer since 2010.

A deal would cost Card Factory in the region of £150m.

It is thought Card Factory is keen on being able to manufacture its own cards.

Paperchase reported sales of £28.4m in the five weeks to 27 January, a 6.5% rise on last year.
