Biffa Waste Services is one of the UK's largest integrated waste management businesses, providing collection, landfill, recycling and special waste services to local authorities and industrial and commercial clients.
The business was founded in Wembley by Richard Henry Biffa in 1919.
The company was then engaged in the removal and sale of ashes and clinker from the London power stations.
In 1960 Richard Biffa Jnr , moved the company into the waste management market and is widely credited with introducing the now ubiquitous waste skip into the UK.
From the late 1960's the company grew both by acquisition and by organic growth and was renamed Biffa Waste Services.
