Barclays is set to appoint James "Jes" Staley as its new chief executive, according to a report by the BBC.
Jes Staley is a former JP Morgan Chase banker currently working BlueMountain Capital Management. He was chief executive of JP Morgan's investment banking and asset management divisions, before leaving to join BlueMountain in 2013.
He will replace Antony Jenkins, who was fired in July over disagreements with the Barclays board. The expected appointment reinforces the subject of Mr Jenkins' falling out with the board. Mr Staley's background is in investment banking, where Barclays wants to stay.
The board was concerned that under Jenkins leadership, the bank was turning its focus towards retail banking.
Barclays is awaiting regulatory approval for Mr Staley's appointment before making the announcement.
