Argos will offer a click-and-collect service in 10 Sainsbury's stores, starting in the summer.

The retailer said customers will be able to order products from a range of more than 20,000 and collect them from the Sainsbury's locations a day later.

The deal comes after Sainsbury's has been seeing strong demand for non-food products in recent years, falling sales and claims that 6% of its floor space is under-used.

"These 10 Argos stores will complement our supermarket offer, giving customers the opportunity to shop for an extended range of non-food items," said Mike Coupe, chief executive of Sainsbury's.

Argos' 'check and reserve' service accounts for around a third of its sales.

The location of the stores are likely to be revealed in the next few weeks.
