Apple's market capitalisation in the US has overtaken that of Exxon Mobil, meaning they are now the single most valuable company in the United States.
The technology giants, who are causing a stir with Samsung at present, had overtaken the oil giants on Tuesday, only to drop back into second. However, Apple regained top spot as Wall Street closed, the first time they have done so.
It fell 2.8% to end at $363.69, giving a market cap of $337 billion (£209 billion), whilst Exxon is now worth $331 billion after it fell 4.4%.
Exxon, which had been the most valuable company since 2005, saw its stock fall 4.4% to close at $68.03.
