Don’t leave them hanging

People who visit your website whilst on the go may be short on time. Perhaps they are visiting during their commute or even just while they have a spare 5 minutes. Whatever the reason, making sure that your site loads quickly, consequently means that they are more likely to remain on the page.

There is nothing more frustrating than a mobile site that you simply cannot manoeuvre around to find what you are looking for. It is one thing to have a website that can be viewed on a mobile or tablet, but it is another thing to make sure that it can be effectively used to make a purchase or learn more about your business.

Think about the thumbs

Following on from the above point, not only should your site be easy to navigate but it should be designed with thumbs in mind; after all, they are the ones that will be doing most of the clicking and scrolling.

When it comes to searching on a mobile for a website customers will often use shorter phrases and keywords. With this in mind, your mobile site should be optimised to be visible in mobile searches which may be different to how your website is created for a computer based search.

In order to turn a visitor into a customer you should make it as easy as possible to make a purchase of your product or get in touch for more information on your service. On a mobile site this becomes all the more important; so don’t forget to check on your conversion.

Keep it local

Whilst a mobile website can mean that customers are able to view your site no matter where they are, it shouldn’t mean that you forget about those ones close to you. Make sure that you pay attention to the localities of people visiting your site and take advantage of this. If they are local then offer incentives for repeat customers or perhaps offer people locality based special offers when they visit through the mobile site.

Seamless and fluid

Loading quickly and with minimal hold up is important on a mobile site. A jerky, unresponsive and slow loading page will often result in a customer going elsewhere.
