Motorists’ insurance premiums swell by around a quarter after just one 3-point penalty for speeding, research finds.
The research, perhaps unsurprisingly carried out by RoadPilot speed camera locating company, found that for men and women across 10 insurers, premiums rose by 14%, or £85. But for individual cases the figure rocketed by 25%.
"Drivers also need to remember that endorsement points stay on their licence for a long time, hitting their pockets year after year through higher insurance premiums," says James Flynn, RoadPilot chief executive.
