Educate Resourcing

Origins

Having worked in senior leadership roles in education for a combined total of forty years, the company directors were increasingly frustrated by the lack of quality opportunities for young people that were more suited to a vocational curriculum. There was also a shared frustration with the support and pay offered to supply staff locally and nationally. Their passion and drive have enabled them to make a positive impact over the last few years and continues to motivate them even more today. The first three years were an enormous challenge where three educational professionals had to become businesspeople. Thankfully, they were able to recruit some excellent staff to support them on the journey and these people now hold senior roles within the company. Education Resourcing’s competitors were well-established both locally and nationally, but they still managed to grow its market share year on year with a focus on quality. Obviously, the COVID pandemic had a massive impact on the fledgling company, but due to the multi-faceted structure of the organisation, it was able to emerge stronger than ever.

Success Factor

The main factors that have contributed to the significant growth that Educate Resourcing has experienced would firstly be the multi-faceted nature of the business. Providing supply staff, training teachers, supporting challenging learners and supporting school non-attendees at home, while all separate parts of the company, are interlinked and provide a holistic support service to many schools and local authorities. Secondly, both long-standing and newly-recruited staff all share the firm’s vision and work tirelessly to deliver outstanding service. Thirdly, the drive and passion of those within the business have ensured they constantly evolve in response to the changing needs of a rapidly increasing customer base.

The Future

Over the next five years, the growth plans for Educate are significant. The supply division aims to be one of the top three independent providers of teachers and school support staff in Wales. This is indicative of the aspiration and belief the business has in its ability to challenge competitors successfully. The alternative provision division has equally grand plans and will look to establish itself, and succeed, in other education markets outside of mainstream schools. The most recent development in its growth, and one with a massive potential, is in young people’s residential care and the first home will open later this year with future homes planned year on year for the foreseeable future. There are a range of challenges facing the business including the recruitment of high-quality, suitable staff so the business has to stand out and adapt to the candidate-driven marketplace. Working with public sector partners, the business is also dependent on Welsh Government (and Westminster) policy and funding for future work.
