Origins
Comlink was started when the founders noticed a gap in the market for a good local, independent service provider. The challenges faced in the first three years have been consolidating and growing the business during Covid 19 and making sure the growth is sustainable. The major challenges in the first three years have varied. Initially it was gaining the required accreditations in order to start up in the industry, so all accreditations were vital in order to secure the work it wanted and work for the clients they wished to. After successfully gaining the accreditations, the next challenge was offering a 24/7 reactive service whilst not having staff to place on a call out rota. This meant two years of being on standby 24/7 to ensure that not one client was let down until the firm had the required staff levels and structure to accommodate a structured on call facility. The most recent challenge was managing cashflow due to fast business growth, having self-funded the business without any investment and having doubled in size in its third year. Other growing pains included ensuring the service level provided never drooped which required continuous funding to add the latest technology, engineers and equipment in order to sustain the best service while growing. Comlink has achieved this by working efficiently utilising technology to assist in scaling the business and offering real time feedback to clients of work it carries out on sites.
Success Factor
The business has been successful since its launch in 2017 because of flexibility where it tailors its approach to individual client needs to support their business. Also, by having skilled and dedicated staff, it has created a hard working team that provide the best service.
The Future
During the next five years, Comlink will continue to grow year on year organically due to the servicing element of the business. It aims to expand on this growth by emphasizing its efforts into training new to industry staff and taking on apprentices and solidifying relationships with existing clients.
