Origins

The foundations for the company started back when founder Alex Loven was 13 when he bought a cricket bat online for £60. However, after noticing the manufacturer’s sticker, it got him thinking about how much the bat cost to make. After contacting the supplier and finding out they only cost £6, he bought ten more directly from them and began selling them to friends, students, and teachers. A few years later, Alex threw in the educational towel and got a job working at his local builders’ merchants, a position which enabled him to develop his interpersonal and communication skills and gave him the tools he needed to go on and start his own business. Within two years, he had £13,000 in savings, all of which he spent on an entire container of sport nets, and the rest is history

Success Factor

The development of sub-brands has bene an important factor in growing the business. For example, the FORZA brand and its garden goals are the best-selling PVC goals in the UK with an extensive range is used by elite clubs around the world such as Manchester United, Manchester City and Bayern Munich. During the pandemic, the business took the risk to introduce new brands including CosySpa Hot Tubs, METIS Fitness and Harrier Garden Products which furthered growth and success. This risk has since paid off, with some of the best-selling products coming from these new sub-brands. Finally, the quality of products is also hugely important and the business sources and manufactures the highest quality products using the best materials to ensure it exceeds customer expectations.
