Hilltop is a honey manufacturer based in Powys. It sells to most major supermarkets such as Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s. Following the success of the honey, it has since moved into new products such as maple syrup, agave syrup, natural energy products and beauty products. Hilltop Honey is proud to be an accredited carbon neutral company by Climate Partner, and every single day is taking active steps to keep it that way. Furthermore, Hilltop has launched its annual community fund, offering £10,000 to support local initiatives that aim to improve the environmental and social environment within the local area.

Following an injury that saw Hilltop’s founder, Scott, out of work, he began beekeeping and selling honey to local friends, family and shops. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and inspired Scott to create a brand centred around great quality, natural products. Like all new businesses, there were many challenges to building a high growth company, particularly with cashflow.In addition, operating Hilltop out of rural Mid-Wales has always posed some clear barriers. The rapid growth of the company has led to a constantly growing team, and finding industry leading talent in a a relatively small, remote town can make this a difficult pursuit. However, the cultural change towards remote working has lowered this barrier, despite it remaining a challenge.
One of the key factors in ensuring Hilltop’s incredible growth over the last decade had been continuous investment. Hilltop has always ensured that money it makes is fed back into the business to fund further growth. Recent investments include operational improvements through increased production capacity. The business environment within Wales is also incredibly nurturing, offering services for networking, investment, consulting or simply general support. Hilltop is proud to be a Welsh business, offering new and exciting opportunities for the people of Mid-Wales and now further afield.
