Rebecca McClure

Becca McClure is co-founder of North Sky Yurts; a female founded, eco conscious yurt and bell tent hire business based in Leeds, Yorkshire. Becca and her business partner, Charlotte, set-up the event yurt side of their business amidst the lockdown’s of 2020 at a time when the events industry wasn’t able to function due to restrictions. However, they used the time to build the foundations of their business and by April 2021 had acquired a bell tent hire business which they merged with their own and grew rapidly. North Sky Yurts now have 2 large event yurts, hosting up to 100 people and over 50 bell tents used to create large bell tent villages. They mostly work at weddings, festivals and private parties but also have partnerships with B2B clients hosting long term pop-up glamping sites. They also have their own pop-up site for hen parties that now accounts for 30% of their overall revenue.

North Sky Yurts are an eco conscious business and consider their environmental impact in every decision they make from purchasing better quality equipment to have a longer lifetime, ditching single use plastics and planting a tree for every customer to offset their travel. They are also a socially conscious business and are Entrepreneurs in Residence for Leeds Library to help support other people wanting to set up businesses and involved in local support groups for female entrepreneurs.
