It is with tremendous sadness that we inform the GBEA community of the passing of our friend, Damien Lee, after a six year battle with cancer.
Damien was founder of Mr Lee’s Noodles, a brand he created with unrivalled determination and passion to inspire people to live a healthier lifestyle. When he was given his first diagnosis, Damien was given just a few weeks to live. But he fought on, insisting he was ‘too busy for cancer’.
Anyone who has encountered Damien will recall his unrelenting energy and enthusiasm, for entrepreneurship, for creating healthier food, and for life.
Words like ‘incredible’ are somewhat overused in today’s society, but Damien’s story and spirit were truly fitting of that description. It led to him being crowned national Small Business Entrepreneur of the Year in 2019.
Despite revealing that his latest diagnosis was terminal while on stage collecting his award, Damien remained committed to entrepreneurship and joined our judging panel for the 2020 Awards, determined to support future generations of entrepreneurs. He very quickly became one of the most respected and highly thought of members of our community.
We feel immensely privileged to have known Damien and honoured to have worked with him. On behalf of the entire GBEA team, and the community, we know he will be sorely missed.
Damien’s team have asked that anyone that knew him considers leaving their memories of Damien’s via rememberingdamien@mrleesnoodles.com, which will be collated into a memoriam page on the Mr Lee’s Noodles site.
