The search for the 2021 Great British Entrepreneur of the Year is on. We are now open for entries!

2021 is our ninth year, and as always the Great British Entrepreneur Awards in partnership with Starling Bank will celebrate the hard work and inspiring stories of entrepreneurs in the UK, rather than just the balance sheet.

Over the previous eight years, we’ve built an incredible alumni of previous winners, including the likes of Julie Deane OBE (The Cambridge Satchel Company), James Watt (BrewDog), Alan and Juliet Barratt (Grenade), Shaun Pulfrey (Tangle Teezer) and hundreds of other inspiring entrepreneurs.

We will again hold eight regional finals before a national final determines the overall winners in each category as well as this year’s Great British Entrepreneur of the Year. In addition to last year’s list of categories, entrepreneurs will be able to enter two new categories: Sustainability Entrepreneur of the Year and the Made in the UK Award.

Our founder, Francesca James, said: “We all know how tough 2020 was for businesses and entrepreneurs. But we’ve seen within our community the willingness to think differently, adapt and pivot, driven by a determination to succeed. Through various conversations we’ve had, it’s pretty clear that the pandemic has also created a lot of opportunities for entrepreneurs to change or even start their paths.

“I’m excited to learn more about the incredible achievements of this country’s entrepreneurs and how they’ve kept going over the past 12 months.

“I’m always overwhelmed by the sheer quantity and quality of the entrepreneurial stories that we see in the entries, and I have no doubt that 2021 will be the same.”

Anne Boden MBE, CEO and founder of headline partner, Starling Bank, said: “After a challenging year for entrepreneurs, it’s important that we recognise the passion, grit and ingenuity needed to start, run and pivot a business. From those who have just started out on their journey to those looking to reach new heights, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards is a valuable way to showcase just how innovative and resilient your business has been, and highlight all the ways you are changing the world for the better.”
