Google have today announced ‘a new kind of computer’. Recognising than many use their laptops predominantly for online activities, and that web-based software-as-a-service tools are becoming increasingly available, the new chromebooks will eliminate the need for time consuming programs and slow booting operating systems.
To be built by the US search giant’s partners, Acer and Samsung, the new ‘chromebooks’ will power on in just 8 seconds and launch Google’s Chrome browser automatically.
Furthermore, the devices’ batteries will last a full day’s use, negating the need to carry a charger around, and the lightweight 'laptops' will feature 3G for instant connectivity.
The lightning fast browser books will be launched in the UK and the US from June this year
