Mich Turner MBE

Founder of Little Venice Cake Company. www.littlevenicecakecompany.com, Mich is a pioneer and authority in the baking world as well as a qualified Food Scientist.

She held the position of Patisserie Buyer for Harvey Nichols in her early career and now has over 25 years’ experience in the industry providing solutions and advising board level in the bakery, hospitality, retail and food service sectors.

As an industry authority her expertise is in high demand thanks to her breadth of experience both commercial and consumer wise, her multi-award winning designs and of course her A-list clientele.

Mich has been named as Harper’s Bazaar & CHANEL Entrepreneur, was presented as a life member of Scottish Bakers’ Association, is a Walpole Brand (achieving Walpole Brand of Tomorrow accolade in 2009) and recognised as a Satinice Artist of Excellence.

In 2010, she received an MBE for her services to the catering industry with further recognition from her industry in 2018 when Mich was awarded the Freedom of the City of London and became an ambassador for the GREAT campaign.

A successful writer and author of seven international bestselling books, her latest published in March 2020, Everyday Bakes to Showstopper Cakes has been submitted to IACP Awards 2021.

As well as consulting for brands and the industry Mich continues to provide live demonstrations, chair conferences and awards, is an accomplished speaker on business and entrepreneurship as well as the luxury market and delivering a bespoke service. In addition Mich speaks and advises on food waste management and environmental challenges through to mindful baking and the positive impact this can have on wellness.

2019 saw Little Venice Cake Company mark 20 years as a luxury business and the announcement of its first cake atelier outside of the UK at Atlantis, The Royal in Dubai scheduled to open Autumn 2021.

Mich judges competitions internationally and is a consultant to a number of key businesses both in the UK and overseas. She makes frequent TV and radio appearances, including as a judge on the hugely successful ITV1 series of Britain’s Best Bakery and BBC Saturday Kitchen, BBC Royal Recipes and Steve Wright in the Afternoon Show on BBC Radio 2.

You will also see Mich in the press, from business interviews to showcasing her unique creations as well as judging wider industry and entrepreneurial awards such as the Great British Entrepreneurs Awards. In 2021 Mich was inducted in to Great British Entrepreneurs Hall of Fame.

Little Venice Cake Company has a number of retail products produced under licence, including an exclusive collection of afternoon tea fine bone china and a series of craft kits. More exciting collaborations are in the pipeline with announcements expected in 2021 following her international expansion and opening of Atlantis, The Royal in Dubai in the autumn.
