SeaFrance, the ferry firm, have gone into liquidation with immediate effect.

A French court put the company into liquidation, a move that has cost 130 jobs in the UK.

The Tribunal de Commerce decided SeaFrance's future after the European Commission ruled that a 200m Euros (£176m) bailout by the French government was illegal.

The 130 jobs lost in the UK will be in Dover, news that was described by Conservative MP for Dover and Deal, Charlie Elphicke, as a "real concern" for the port of Dover.
