The FTSE 100 fell further in early trading on Thursday, extending the seven-year low hit on Wednesday.

The stock index closed at 6,403.45 on Wednesday, but fell a further 34.38 points when trading started this morning.

Earlier this year, the FTSE 100 hit record highs of more than 7,022 points.
