Celebrating & Championing Britain’s Food & Drink Heroes
From the founders of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards
Challenger brands make up 96% of Britain’s total food and drink businesses. These companies contribute a highly significant £18bn to the UK economy.
This is a programme that will support, celebrate and recognise them!
Nearly 100 founders and co-founders of 66 businesses have been shortlisted across 11 categories, including; Alcoholic Drink Entrepreneur of the Year, Non-Alcoholic Drink Entrepreneur of the Year, Confectionary Entrepreneur of the Year, Start-Up Entrepreneur of the Year and Restaurant Entrepreneur of the Year.
The winners will be determined by a panel of entrepreneurial and industry experts, while a public vote will decide a People’s Choice winner from the full shortlist.
Food & Drink Heroes recognises and champions entrepreneurs within the UK’s food and drink industry, shining a spotlight on and supporting them to continue growing.
The award programme is run by the creators of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, which celebrates the hard work and inspiring stories of entrepreneurs in the UK. Now in its ninth year, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards has a long history of celebrating some of the country’s top food and drink entrepreneurs, including the founders of Grenade, BrewDog, Gousto, Mindful Chef and more.
Given the current lockdown and uncertainty around easing of restrictions, Food & Drink Heroes understands regrets that it is not possible to hold the award ceremony in-person. The team is currently devising the best possible alternative and an announcement will be made as soon as possible.
Founder of Food & Drink Heroes, Francesca James, said: “We are delighted to be announcing Food & Drink Heroes’ first shortlist of entrepreneurs. As a first year programme, we’ve been thoroughly impressed by the number, but more importantly the quality, of entries from the industry. Against the backdrop of the pandemic, it is a huge achievement to have made it onto our first shortlist.
“I want to congratulate each and every entrepreneur to make it to the shortlist and wish them luck for the final.”
Gareth Hobbs, managing director at Visionary Food Solutions, said: “It is incredibly encouraging to see the quality of the shortlist for the awards. This is testament to the entrepreneurial spirit in the UK, with brands that have done great things over the last year in spite of such tough conditions, driven by great leadership and teams. Seeing the calibre of the shortlist, I’m really excited to see who the winners are.”
