High street retailer Clinton Cards have reported weakened sales for the Christmas period.
A statement from the company said that like-for-like sales, which exclude the effects of stores opening or closing, rose 0.4% in the 5 weeks to January 1st.
However, in the 22 weeks to January 1st, though, like-for-like sales fell 1.4%.
"Going forward, there is clearly more work to be done," chief executive Darcy Willson-Rymer said.
"Despite a tough retail climate, we remain in line with the board's expectations."
